In a push to improve air quality and address climate change, Moscow has announced plans to electrify its entire bus fleet by 2032. This would mean putting 1.5 million electric buses on the streets in the next 12 years.
According to the city's transport department, electric buses produce 80% less harmful emissions than diesel buses. They are also quieter, which would improve the quality of life for residents.
The move would require a significant investment, but the city is confident that it will be able to find the necessary funding. In the meantime, it is already testing out a fleet of 50 electric buses.
