Green Mountain Power (GMP) has announced the purchase of two all-wheel-drive electric utility trucks from Lion Electric . The trucks, which have a range of up to 200 miles, will be used by GMP's line crews for a variety of tasks, including responding to outages, maintaining power lines, and delivering materials and equipment.
This purchase is part of GMP's ongoing commitment to electric vehicles (EVs). The utility currently operates a fleet of over 30 EVs, including passenger cars, bucket trucks, and tractor-trailers.
"These new trucks will help us increase our electric fleet's capabilities while also reducing our environmental impact," said Josh Castonguay, GMP's president and CEO. "We're proud to be leading the way in the transition to a cleaner, more efficient transportation system."
Lion Electric is a leading manufacturer of all-electric vehicles. Its trucks have been deployed by a number of utilities and other companies, including NationalGrid and FedEx.
