The move is part of GM's effort to encourage the use of EVs and to promote employee welfare.

The 401 stations, which are Level 2 chargers, will be installed at GM's offices, warehouses and technical centers. They will be available to all GM employees, regardless of which EV they drive.

The stations will be installed by ChargePoint, the world's largest EV charging network. ChargePoint will also provide GM with data on employee charging habits.

GM says that the data will be used to help the company better understand employee EV charging needs and preferences. It will also help GM to plan for future EV infrastructure projects.

The 401 charging stations are part of GM's commitment to deploying 2,700 Level 2 and Level 3 chargers at its facilities worldwide by 2025. GM also plans to make home chargers available to all of its employees in the United States by the end of 2019.

GM is not the only automaker to offer workplace charging to its employees. BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Volkswagen have all installed EV chargers at their U.S. facilities.
