Xcel Energy has chosen Emotorwerks to help implement a smart grid electric vehicle (EV) charging pilot program. Through the pilot, Xcel Energy and Emotorwerks will work together to provide discounts on EV charging for customers who charge their vehicles during periods of low demand for electricity. This will help Xcel Energy to better manage its electric grid and save customers money on their energy bills.

Emotorwerks is a leading provider of smart grid EV charging solutions. The company’s technology is used by utilities and businesses around the world to manage EV charging and optimize the electric grid.

“We are excited to partner with Xcel Energy on this important pilot program,” said Val Miftakhov, CEO of Emotorwerks. “Smart grid EV charging is a critical part of the transition to a clean energy future. This pilot will help Xcel Energy to better understand how to manage EV charging and provide its customers with more affordable, cleaner energy.”

Through the pilot, Emotorwerks will provide its JuiceNet platform to Xcel Energy customers in Colorado. JuiceNet is a cloud-based platform that helps utilities and businesses manage EV charging. It provides real-time monitoring of charging activity, control of charging rates, and automated billing.

“EVs are an important part of our clean energy strategy,” said David Eves, President and CEO of Xcel Energy-Colorado. “This pilot will help us understand how best to manage EV charging and provide our customers with more affordable, cleaner energy. We believe that smart grid EV charging is a critical part of the transition to a clean energy future.”

The pilot program is expected to begin in early 2018.
