Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti has announced an order for 130 electric buses from BYD, as the city looks to replace its entire diesel bus fleet with zero-emission vehicles.

The buses will be delivered over the next five years and will operate on 30 different routes across the city. BYD will also build a maintenance facility in Los Angeles to support the buses.

The total cost of the project is $322 million, with $30 million coming from the state of California and the remainder from the city of Los Angeles.

This is the largest order of electric buses in the United States to date, and it marks a significant step forward in the city's goal to transition to all zero-emission buses by 2030.

Electric buses offer a number of advantages over traditional diesel buses, including lower operating costs, lower emissions, and improved passenger comfort.

BYD is a world leader in electric bus technology, with over 12,000 buses in operation around the world. The company has already delivered electric buses to a number of cities in the United States, including Seattle, New York, and Long Beach.
