The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 is set to captivate cricket enthusiasts worldwide with its 18th edition, running from March 22 to May 25, 2025. This season promises thrilling matches, iconic venues, and a competitive tournament structure.

Tournament Format

The IPL 2025 will feature 10 teams divided into two groups, each comprising five teams. During the group stage:

  • Each team will play 14 matches: facing the other four teams in their group twice (home and away), four teams from the opposite group once, and the remaining team from the opposite group twice.
  • The top four teams based on points will advance to the playoffs, which include Qualifier 1, Eliminator, Qualifier 2, and the Final.

Key Match Dates and Venues

  • Opening Match: The tournament will kick off on March 22, 2025, with defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) facing Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
  • Final: The grand finale is scheduled for May 25, 2025, at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, marking the third time this iconic venue hosts the IPL final.
  • Playoffs: The Qualifier 1 and Eliminator matches are set for May 20 and May 21, respectively, at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, Hyderabad. Qualifier 2 will be on May 23 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
