In partnership with Einride, Maersk will deploy 300 electric trucks across Sweden, Denmark, and Belgium by the end of 2019. The move is part of Maersk's efforts to decarbonize its operations and meet its goal of being carbon neutral by 2025.

The electric trucks, which are being leased from Einride, are designed for long-haul routes and can travel up to 500 kilometers on a single charge. They are also autonomous-ready, meaning they can be operated without a driver if regulations allow.

Maersk is not the only company looking to electric trucks to decarbonize its operations. Volvo, Daimler, and Tesla are all working on electric trucks and have plans to deploy them in the coming years.
