If you're an Indian passport holder with a love for beaches, beautiful rivers, and ancient temples, Vietnam might just become a whole lot easier to visit. A senior Vietnamese diplomat recently mentioned that they're thinking about rolling out a new visa policy specifically to welcome more tourists from India and other countries.
Currently, Vietnam offers e-visas, which is a convenient online option. However, unlike many other South Asian countries, they don't yet have a visa-on-arrival system. But that might be about to change.
Le Quang Bien, the Consul General of Vietnam in Mumbai, spoke about this at the Da Nang Tourism Roadshow in Ahmedabad. He pointed out the strong relationship between Vietnam and India, and how more and more Indian tourists are choosing Vietnam as their travel destination.
Bien said that while they currently have the e-visa system in place, they are considering a new visa policy to make it even easier for tourists from India and other countries to visit.
Da Nang Wants to Be Your Next Favorite Destination
So, what's the big deal about Da Nang?. Well, it's a gorgeous coastal city in Vietnam known for its stunning beaches, fascinating museums, and rich cultural heritage. And Vietnam is making a big push to make Da Nang a top destination for Indian tourists.
Huynh Thi Huong Lan, the Deputy Director of the Da Nang Tourism Promotion Center, emphasized how important Indian tourists are to Da Nang's growth plans. They're really focused on adapting to what Indian travelers want, making sure Da Nang is both accessible and attractive.
Lan also mentioned that Da Nang is working on some cool things specifically for Indian travelers, especially in the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) sector, and even for destination weddings. Imagine getting married on a beautiful Vietnamese beach!
Indians are Already Loving Da Nang!
And it seems to be working! Since 2022, India has consistently been among the top five countries sending tourists to Da Nang.
Here are some stats that show just how popular Da Nang is becoming with Indian tourists:
In 2024, Da Nang welcomed a whopping 222,000 visitors from India. That's more than 5% of all international tourists!
Almost half of all Indian tourists who visited Vietnam (that's over 500,000 people!) made sure to include Da Nang in their itinerary.
Compared to pre-pandemic numbers in 2019, the number of Indian visitors to Da Nang has skyrocketed by over 13 times!
Da Nang is the third-largest city in Vietnam and a major economic and cultural center. With its beautiful beaches, luxurious resorts, and recognition as "Asia’s Leading Event and Festival Destination" by the World Travel Awards, it's easy to see why it's becoming such a hit!
