Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Andhra Pradesh on October 16, 2025, for a high-profile event focused on regional development in Kurnool district. The visit includes a ceremonial stop at the Sri Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Swamy Varla Devasthanam temple in Srisailam, followed by an official launch of projects worth ₹13,430 crore. These projects span multiple sectors including power transmission, industry, roads, railways, defence manufacturing, and energy.
A key highlight of the development initiatives is the strengthening of the Kurnool‑III pooling station’s transmission system and the construction of a 765 kV double-circuit line connecting Kurnool‑III to Chilakaluripeta. The expansion is projected to enhance power capacity by 6,000 MVA, improving the reliability and efficiency of electricity transmission across the region.
In addition to power infrastructure, several modern industrial hubs are being established in the Orvakal and Kopparthy regions of Kurnool. These hubs aim to attract investments, generate employment opportunities, and facilitate balanced economic growth in the Rayalaseema area. The projects are also expected to support the local supply chain and encourage the growth of small and medium enterprises.
Road infrastructure improvements form another critical component of the Prime Minister’s agenda. Upgraded highways and arterial roads will enhance connectivity within the district and across Andhra Pradesh, supporting trade and easing travel for residents and businesses alike. Railway development projects are planned in parallel to ensure efficient transport of goods and passengers, further integrating Kurnool into national logistics networks.
Defence manufacturing and petroleum projects are also part of the initiative, reinforcing India’s strategic capacity in these vital sectors. These projects are designed to support national security while fostering technology transfer, skill development, and employment.
The Prime Minister’s visit reflects a broader government strategy to promote inclusive regional development, upgrade critical infrastructure, and drive sustainable economic growth in Andhra Pradesh. By investing in diverse sectors, these projects aim to create long-term benefits for residents, businesses, and the overall economy of the region.
With the launch of these initiatives, Andhra Pradesh is expected to witness accelerated development, improved connectivity, enhanced power reliability, and expanded industrial activity. The projects highlight the government’s commitment to balanced growth, modernization, and employment generation in one of the country’s rapidly evolving districts.
