Maharashtra is set to host the U-15 National Wrestling Championships in Nagpur from June 20 to 22, marking a significant event in India’s youth sports calendar. This is the first time Nagpur will organize the prestigious national-level wrestling competition for under-15 athletes, and preparations are underway to ensure a grand and competitive event.
Organized under the aegis of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) and in collaboration with the Maharashtra State Wrestling Association, the tournament will witness the participation of hundreds of young wrestlers from across the country, competing in various freestyle and Greco-Roman weight categories.
The championship carries high stakes, as it serves as the official selection trial for the Indian team that will represent the nation at the Asian U-15 Wrestling Championships in Kyrgyzstan later this year. Only the best-performing athletes from this three-day event will earn a place on the national squad, making the competition fierce and the outcome highly anticipated.
Nagpur’s selection as the host city highlights its growing reputation as a sports hub, particularly for wrestling and martial arts. The event is expected to draw attention from national selectors, coaches, and sports academies, providing a valuable platform for discovering the next generation of Indian wrestling talent.
The local administration and sports authorities are coordinating closely to ensure high-quality arrangements, including accommodation, medical support, and state-of-the-art mat infrastructure, aiming to meet national and international standards.
With wrestling continuing to be one of India’s most successful Olympic sports, the U-15 National Championships will be closely followed by fans, coaches, and sporting bodies alike. The event in Nagpur is not just a contest of strength and skill—it’s a launchpad for future champions.
