In a strategic move to strengthen their presence in the Indian lighting market, Dixon Technologies and Signify Innovations India have announced the formation of a 50-50 joint venture. The partnership aims to scale up local manufacturing, accelerate innovation, and meet growing domestic demand for energy-efficient lighting solutions.

This collaboration marks a significant milestone in India's electronics and lighting industry, combining Dixon’s robust manufacturing infrastructure with Signify’s advanced lighting technologies. Signify, formerly known as Philips Lighting, brings to the table its global expertise in LED lighting, smart systems, and sustainability-driven innovation.

The joint venture will focus on developing and producing a wide range of lighting products for the Indian market, including smart lighting, LED bulbs, and luminaires. The manufacturing will be conducted in India under the government’s Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives, further supporting domestic value addition and employment generation.

According to Dixon, the partnership is an important step toward building end-to-end capabilities in the lighting space. The company emphasized its commitment to expanding production capacities and increasing India’s self-reliance in electronics and lighting technology.

Signify India echoed this sentiment, stating that the collaboration would allow both firms to respond faster to local market needs while driving innovation tailored for Indian consumers. The JV is expected to create new product lines, reduce import dependence, and bring advanced lighting technologies to the Indian market at competitive prices.

Industry experts view this move as a catalyst for growth in the Indian lighting segment, especially as demand surges in urban, industrial, and smart city projects. With energy efficiency gaining national priority, the Dixon-Signify joint venture is poised to play a key role in shaping the future of lighting in India.
