TheGreenBillions Limited (TGBL) and its subsidiary Variate Pune Waste to Energy Pvt. Ltd. are partnering with the Pune Municipal Corporation to set up India's first plant to extract green hydrogen from biomass and waste. Broacast Engineering Consultants India Limited (BECIL) will provide project management consulting, while MAHAPREIT and GAIL have proposed to blend the hydrogen in the city gas distribution network. This project intends to reduce CO2 emissions, divert waste from landfills and create micro-economies through employment.
