January 26, 2017 - Tritium, the world leader in high-speed EV (electric vehicle) charging technology, today announced an update to its RT50 EV charger that enables Plug and Charge capabilities, making charging even faster and more convenient for EV drivers.
The new software update, available for free to all RT50 owners, enables the following features:
- Automatic authentication and authorization of the vehicle
- Automatic start and stop of the charging process
- Automatic billing and payments
To take advantage of the new Plug and Charge capabilities, EV drivers simply need to download the latest software update for their RT50 and connect their EV to the charger. Once connected, the charger will automatically authenticate and authorize the vehicle, start the charging process, and handle all billing and payments.
"The RT50 was designed from the ground up to be the most user-friendly, convenient, and reliable EV charger on the market," said David Finn, CEO of Tritium. "With the addition of Plug and Charge capabilities, we're making it even easier and faster for EV drivers to charge their vehicles."
The RT50 is a 50kW, Level 2 EV charger that is compatible with all EVs on the market. It features a built-in WiFi connection, smartphone app, and web-based account management for easy monitoring and control of charging sessions. The RT50 is also the only charger on the market with Tritium's proprietary Veefil PDT power distribution technology, which provides industry-leading reliability, safety, and efficiency.
