After a rigorous selection process, Nissan has been selected to participate in the Fermata Energy V2x Pilot program. The program will allow Nissan to test its new "Vehicle-to-everything" (V2X) technology, which enables vehicles to communicate with each other and with infrastructure such as traffic lights and Roadside Units (RSUs).
Nissan's V2X technology is based on Dedicated Short-Range Communications (DSRC) and uses the 5.9 GHz band to exchange information between vehicles and infrastructure. The technology has the potential to significantly improve safety and traffic flow, and reduce congestion and emissions.
In the pilot program, Nissan will test the V2X technology in 200 Nissan LEAF electric vehicles, equipped with special equipment that allows them to communicate with RSUs installed at select intersections in the City of Ann Arbor, Michigan. The LEAFs will "talk" to the RSUs, receiving information about traffic signals, road conditions, and other vehicles in the area.
The data collected by the LEAFs will be used to improve the accuracy of the V2X system, and to evaluate the potential benefits of the technology. The pilot program is expected to last for two years.
Nissan is committed to being a leader in the development of cutting-edge technologies that make driving more enjoyable, efficient and safe. We are excited to be a part of the Fermata Energy V2x Pilot program and to contribute to the advancement of this important technology.
