A123 Systems, LLC (“A123 Systems”), a developer and manufacturer of advanced lithium-ion batteries and systems, today announced it has been awarded a contract to provide its latest nanophosphate® lithium-ion technology batteries for a General Motors (NYSE: GM) vehicle program in China.
A123 Systems will supply cells and modules for a 48-volt battery system to be used in a GM joint venture (JV) in China.
A123 Systems’ unique nanophosphate technology delivers safe, high power and long life, making it ideal for start-stop, hybrid electric vehicle (HEV), and plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) applications.
