On Wednesday, September 12, 2018, at 10:00 a.m., Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) will donate a new, fully-equipped Plug-In Disaster Response truck to the City of Napa. The truck, worth approximately $250,000, is a first-of-its-kind vehicle that can provide power generation, water pumping, and other services during an emergency.
The City of Napa has been a partner with PG&E in emergency preparedness and response for many years. The City of Napa Fire Department has used PG&E’s emergency preparedness trailer in the past, and this new truck will supplement the City’s emergency response capabilities.
“The City of Napa is very appreciative of PG&E’s donation of this Plug-In Disaster Response truck,” said Mayor Jill Techel. “It will be a valuable resource for our community, and we are proud to partner with PG&E in emergency preparedness and response.”
“PG&E is committed to supporting the City of Napa and our other local partners in emergency preparedness and response,” said David Williams, Senior Vice President and Chief Customer Officer for PG&E. “This new, fully-equipped truck will help the City of Napa be even better prepared to respond to emergencies.”
The truck is equipped with:
- A 7.5-kilowatt generator
- A 2,000-watt light tower
- A 2,000-gallon-per-minute water pump
- An air compressor
- A welder
- A battery charger
- A full complement of hand tools
The truck will be housed at the City of Napa’s Public Works facility and will be available to respond to emergencies throughout the Napa Valley.
