Indiana Gas Station Chain Installs Dc Fast Chargers
The state of Indiana is getting a little greener, with a new electric car charging station initiative from a major gas station chain.
The initiative, led by Sunoco, will see the installation of dozens of new DC fast chargers at Sunoco gas stations across the state.
The move comes as part of a wider push by Sunoco to deploy fast-charging infrastructure across the US, with the company already having installed chargers in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, and North Carolina.
DC fast chargers are capable of delivering up to 150 miles of range in around 30 minutes, making them ideal for long-distance travel.
The new charger network in Indiana will be built using the CHAdeMO standard, which is currently the most popular fast-charging standard in use in the US.
The first phase of the rollout will see 50 chargers installed by the end of 2019, with the goal being to have around 200 in operation across the state by 2021.
The move is a welcome one for electric vehicle owners in Indiana, who have had few public fast-charging options up to this point.
It's also good news for the state's economy, as the new charging infrastructure is likely to encourage more people to consider making the switch to an electric vehicle.
So, if you're in Indiana and looking for a fast charger, keep your eyes peeled for the Sunoco logo.
