Sandy Munro is a well-respected name in the tech world, and he's known for his company's teardown videos of popular devices. This time, he's taken a look at 10 different electric vehicle (EV) motors, to see how they compare.

There are a few different types of EV motors out there, and Munro says that the most common is the induction motor. This is the kind of motor that's used in the Tesla Model 3, Chevy Bolt, and Nissan Leaf.

The next most common type of motor is the permanent magnet motor, which is used in the BMW i3, Volkswagen e-Golf, and Mercedes B-Class Electric Drive.

Lastly, there's the switched reluctance motor, which is used in the Kia Soul EV and Ford Focus Electric.

Munro does a detailed analysis of each motor, looking at things like efficiency, power density, and manufacturing cost. He also looks at the motor controller, which is an important part of any electric vehicle.

In the end, Munro concludes that the Tesla Model 3 has the best motor, followed by the Chevy Bolt and the BMW i3. He says that the Nissan Leaf and the Mercedes B-Class Electric Drive are both good, but they're not as good as the others.

As for the Kia Soul EV and Ford Focus Electric, Munro says that they're both OK, but they're not great.
