Nidec Corporation (OTC Pink: NJDCY) (TSE: 6594), the world's largest manufacturer of motors and drive systems, today announced that it has supplied its new 200 kilowatt (kW) electric axle traction motor to Geely's new Zeekr 001 electric vehicle (EV).

The Nidec motor is a critical component of the Zeekr 001's all-wheel-drive system, and helps the vehicle achieve a 0-100 kilometers per hour (km/h) time of 4.4 seconds and a top speed of 200 km/h.

"We are pleased to provide our latest electric motor technology to Geely's new Zeekr 001 EV," said Shigenobu Nagamori, President and CEO of Nidec Corporation. "This is a significant achievement for Nidec as it expands our presence in the global EV market."

The Nidec motor is based on the company's unique and proprietary stator winding technology, which delivers significantly higher torque and power density than competing products.

The motor is also more efficient, helping to improve the range of the Zeekr 001.

"We are confident that Nidec's motor will contribute to the Zeekr 001's success in the market," said Nagamori.

The Nidec motor is the latest in a series of new products the company has supplied to the global EV market.

In 2017, Nidec supplied its first electric vehicle motor to BMW for the i3 electric car.

Nidec has also supplied motors to Tesla, Jaguar, Volvo, and other major automakers.

With the supply of the new 200 kW motor, Nidec is now the largest supplier of EV motors in the world.
