Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh – October 23, 2024: In a bid to bolster infrastructure development and improve connectivity, former Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader, N. Chandrababu Naidu, has called for the accelerated completion of key railway projects across Andhra Pradesh. Naidu emphasized the need for swift action to enhance transportation facilities in the state, aligning with his vision of rapid economic development and better mobility for the people.
During a meeting with senior officials and party leaders, Naidu stressed that the timely execution of pending and ongoing railway projects is crucial for the state's growth. He identified several high-priority projects that require immediate attention, including the Kadapa-Bangalore Railway Line, Vijayawada-Guntur Double Line, and the Visakhapatnam Railway Station modernisation.
Priority for Economic Corridors
Naidu highlighted the importance of these railway projects in improving the state's connectivity with major industrial and economic hubs, such as Bengaluru, Chennai, and Hyderabad. He argued that faster rail connectivity will attract more industries to set up operations in Andhra Pradesh, fostering job creation and economic prosperity.
"The completion of these railway lines will not only reduce travel time but also boost trade, tourism, and industrial growth. Andhra Pradesh’s geographical location makes it a key player in India's logistical network, and we must leverage that potential fully," Naidu stated.
Push for Central Government Cooperation
Naidu has urged the central government to release necessary funds for the timely completion of the projects and ensure smooth coordination between state and central agencies. "Andhra Pradesh cannot afford delays in these projects. We need full support from the central government to ensure that these projects are completed within the stipulated time," he said.
Several ongoing railway projects in the state have faced delays due to land acquisition issues, budgetary constraints, and coordination challenges between state and central authorities. Naidu has called for a dedicated task force to monitor the progress of these projects and ensure adherence to deadlines.
Boost for Regional Connectivity
The completion of these railway projects is expected to significantly improve regional connectivity, particularly for areas like Rayalaseema and coastal Andhra, which have historically been underserved in terms of infrastructure development. Naidu expressed his commitment to ensuring that the entire state benefits equally from the improved rail network.
The former Chief Minister also emphasized the importance of modernizing railway stations and improving passenger amenities, which would enhance the overall travel experience and contribute to the state's image as a business-friendly destination.
Looking Ahead
Naidu’s call for the expedited completion of railway projects comes ahead of the 2024 general elections, with infrastructure development being one of the key focus areas of his party’s campaign. He reiterated that if elected, his government would prioritize infrastructure and connectivity as essential pillars for the state's growth.
As Andhra Pradesh gears up for the next phase of development, Naidu’s push for completing railway projects reflects his commitment to creating a well-connected, industrialized, and progressive state.
